Multiframe CONNECT Edition V2024 | 1.0 Gb

The MAXSURF development team is pleased to announce the release of Multiframe 2024 (24.00.00.722). This solution helps structural experts check the structure of their vessel to comply with class requirements and optimise it for strength and weight. It can be used for deck grillage, frame, superstructure and mast strength calculations.

Multiframe CONNECT Edition

The MOSES development team is pleased to announce the release of Maxsurf 2023 and Multiframe 2023. For this release, there are several important changes which are described below.

Bentley Lifecycle Policy and version numbering

Bentley Systems is making changes to the support lifecycle of desktop applications. One of the key changes is that major versions of Maxsurf will be supported with critical fixes for at least five years, although users are still encouraged to update to each new version to benefit from new features that are added to Maxsurf.

The main change is that we will be moving to year-based naming for Maxsurf, thus this release is Maxsurf 2023. The version numbering (MM.MM.uu.bb) changes slightly with now the first two digit pairs (MM.MM) indicating the major version number of the software; the next par of digits (uu) is the minor update of that major release (if any) and the final par (bb) is the build number. The expectation is to release one major release per year around April-May with the possibility of a minor update around September/October.

Major versions continue to be able to be installed side-by-side on the same machine; thus “Maxsurf 2023” (v23.07.00) can be installed alongside “MAXSURF 23.06”. Minor updates to a major release releases will replace the any existing installation with the same major version number; thus v23.07.01.bb would replace v23.07.00.bb but still be called “Maxsurf 2023”.

Maxsurf and Multiframe product consolidation

MAXSURF Advanced and MAXSURF Ultimate are now consolidated into a single product with all the capabilities and features. This new product will be known as 'Maxsurf' and will be under the MOSES Bentley Offshore brand. The consolidated Maxsurf has the old MAXSURF Ultimate product ID 2143

Multiframe and Multiframe Advanced are now consolidated into a single product with all the capabilities and features. This new product will be known as 'Multiframe' and will be under the MOSES Bentley Offshore brand. The consolidated Multiframe has the old Multiframe Advanced product ID 2144

From this release, Maxsurf 2023 and Multiframe 2023, onwards the License Configuration dialog will continue to be displayed when starting an application primarily for verification of the license status since there are no tier options to select.

Key new features

Surface continuity visualization with Zebra mapping
A zebra map render option is now available from the render dialog. Zebra mapping assists in visualizing the degree of continuity across surface bonds.

Conditional flooding of non-buoyant volumes
It is now possible to conditionally flood a Non-Buoyant Volume (NBV). Normally NBVs are permanently flooded, this new feature makes it possible to flood the BNV only when a specific Key Point is immersed. This feature can be used to model the flooding of a yacht’s cockpit for example.

- 1022284, 990116: Checks have been added to ensure that licenses are fully released when the application is shut down.

- 899299: A problem whereby the shear area effects were not included during non-linear analysis has been fixed.
- 899305: Some improvements to prevent overlapping of labels has been made.
- 899315: The results imported from a Multiframe text file are now correctly updated.
- 899437: The Multiframe COM automation sample MFResultsTables.xls has been updated to fully populate the Stress results worksheet.
- 899449: Some memory leaks in the section library code have been fixed.
- 912596: Improved modeling and analysis of cylindrical structures (e.g. water tanks) to prevent unexpectedly high von Mises stresses being predicted.
- 918491: Fix a problem where Modal analysis failed to run under certain circumstances.
- 965260: The rendering for ‘C’ and channel sections has been improved.
- 988542: A toolbar button and shortcut key (Ctrl+J) have been added to restore the default toolbar layout after resizing the main application window.
- 1028015: A problem which occasionally resulted in the shear capacity check being zero for angle sections has been fixed.
- 1038128: The total defection combining x, y, and z components is now shown in the plots of the deflected structure.

Multiframe provides linear and non-linear analysis, static and dynamic options and buckling calculations. These analysis options are complemented by a full range of analysis-related modeling tools like master-slave, prescribed displacements, springs, thermal effects, offset members, additional masses and much more. Other modules allow you to draw sectionshapes and install them in the sections library and perform design checks for a range of design codes. Multiframe Automation allows you to prepare design calculations in Excel and link them directly with your Multiframe model. An ever expanding range of design add-ons also allows you to simplify steel code checking and optimization.

Minimum Profile
The minimum recommended workstation profile for running Multiframe CONNECT Edition is:

Processor: Intel or AMD processor 1.0 GHz or greater. MicroStation is not supported on a CPU that does not support SSE2.
Memory: 4 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended. More memory almost always improves performance, particularly when working with larger models.
Hard Disk: 4 GB free disk space (which includes the 2 GB install footprint for a complete installation)
Video: Graphics card which fully supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL with up to date drivers. A stand-alone graphics card with 512 MB of video RAM or higher is recommended.
Screen: A resolution of at least 1024 x 768 or higher.

No Longer Supported or Delivered

Windows 7 support: Whilst MAXSURF software may well continue to function on Windows 7 with SP1, this operating system is no longer officially supported by Bentley Systems. Microsoft support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020.32-bit operating systems are no longer supported.
