Autodesk has released Factory Design Utilities 2027.0. This solution enables you to conceptualize, plan, and validate manufacturing facilities for optimized workflows and accurate equipment placement.

What's new in Factory Design Utilities 2027.0 - Date: April, 2026

Adjust Assets (What's New in 2027)
New Adjust command to automatically update asset parameters in a layout. The Adjust command lets you change asset parameters in the layout quickly and precisely. Previously, updating asset parameters required manual measurement and edits in the Factory Properties browser. Adjust now lets you change those values automatically by detecting them directly from an asset displacement in the layout.
How to access
You can access the Adjust command in Inventor from the Utilities panel of the Factory tab:

When to use
Use Adjust when you need fast, repeatable, accurate parameter-driven adjustments of assets in the layout. Adjust complements the existing workflow by providing a faster, on-canvas way to update parameter values.
How it works
1. Select assets — Select one or more assets to edit.
2. The selected asset(s) are highlighted in the layout.
3. Start Adjust — Adjust command icon On the ribbon, click Factory tab > Utilities panel > Adjust.
4. The triad appears at the first selected asset.
5. Drag the triad — Click and drag the axis handle (X, Y, or Z) to define a displacement. Use the axis handle for single-axis translation and turn on translation snaps (point, edge, axis, floor, or grid) for precision.
6. When you release the drag, the Adjust dialog opens.
7. Select the parameter — Select which asset parameter to update, then click OK to confirm the change.

Key benefits
- Quick, accurate changes: Adjust asset parameters by dragging the triad and applying detected values — no need to measure manually and edit the values in the Factory Properties browser.
- Visual, intuitive workflow: See the result as you drag; the triad gives clear directional feedback and the dialog shows the displacement value which you can modify before you confirm the change.
- Snaps for precision: Use snaps to lock the triad to references and get repeatable, accurate values without typing dimensions.
- Single-axis translation: Drag along one axis at a time for predictable parameter updates and consistent direction, especially for lengths, offsets, and clearances.
- Iterate easily: Use Apply in the Adjust dialog for small incremental changes and Revert if the preview is wrong before committing with OK.
- Multi-asset editing: Select and adjust multiple assets in one session so you can update several items in the layout without restarting the command.
Assets Warning (What's New in 2027)
Get alerted when a layout includes orphan or Vault-managed assets when syncing between products. A new warning dialog appears when the layout includes orphan or Vault-managed assets. Previously, there was no notification, so it was easy to assume assets were missing from the layout. The warning provides transparency and helps you understand why some assets might be missing when syncing between products.
What are orphan assets?
Orphan assets are assets referenced in the layout that can't be found in the asset library. This can happen when:
- Assets have been moved or deleted from the asset library
- Assets aren't available in the current product's asset library
- Assets are from a different product version or configuration
- Asset library data sources are out of sync
When does the warning appear?
The warning dialog appears automatically during the sync process when:
- The system detects that the layout includes one or more orphan assets
- The orphan assets can't be resolved even after refreshing the asset data sources in the layout
Recommendations
When you see the warning:
1. Check Asset Library: Verify that your asset libraries are up to date and properly configured.
2. Refresh Libraries: Try refreshing your asset data sources if available.
3. Verify Product Compatibility: Ensure that assets used in the layout are available in the product you're syncing to.
4. Review Asset Availability: Check if the orphan assets need to be downloaded or if they're available in your current product configuration.
Key benefits
Improved transparency: You get clear visibility into orphan assets in your layouts.
- Reduced confusion: You understand why certain assets may not appear, rather than assuming they are missing.
- Better troubleshooting: When you see the warning, you can take action such as logging in to Vault, refreshing asset libraries, checking if assets need to be downloaded, or verifying asset availability across different products.
- Cross-product awareness: You are informed that orphan assets might be missing when syncing between different products.
Asset Chain Validation (What's New in 2027)
New validation ensures asset chains are created only when connectors and length parameters meet the required criteria. Validation constraints are added to the Create Asset Chain workflow so asset chains are created only when the selected assets and connectors meet the rules for a valid configuration. This improves reliability, prevents invalid configurations, and ensures consistent behavior between Inventor and AutoCAD.
What has changed?
Previous behavior
1. Asset chains could be created even when connector configuration was incomplete or invalid
2. Length constraints weren't always enforced
New behavior
1. Asset chain creation is
