Solid Angle 3ds Max to Arnold 5.6 | 1.1 Gb

Autodesk has released Solid Angle Arnold 5.8.4.2 for Autodesk 3ds Max is a high-performance Monte Carlo ray tracing renderer built for the demands of feature-length animation and visual effects production.

Arnold for 3ds Max 5.8.4.2 uses Arnold 7.4.4.2 and is a bugfix release.

5.8.4.2 - Arnold for 3ds Max - Date: 22 January 2026
Bug Fixes
- ARNOLD-16335 - Rare crash during node update when using cryptomatte
- ARNOLD-16739 - Global Light Sampling is not correctly enabled in certain cases in IPR
- ARNOLD-16815 - DeepEXR driver hangs with certain invalid samples
- ARNOLD-16945 - Fix rare crash when loading some USD files
- ARNOLD-17173 - Conflicting MaterialX definitions for convert shaders cause random failures
- ARNOLD-17193 - No path mapping on OSL textures if texture_use_existing_tx is turned off
- ARNOLD-17195 - Crash when interactively replacing a procedural with an empty file
- ARNOLD-17206 - Crash when node does not have an AtNodeEntry
- ARNOLD-17296 - Crash when there are multiple non-simple imager_lens_effects nodes
- usd#2509 - Fix crash in Solaris when changing the rendered LOP interactively
- usd#2514 - Fix random inconsistencies between instantaneousShutter and ignore_motion_blur in hydra

usd#1546 - Fix relative paths on Arnold nodes12928 - Crash if the instancer source node list contains nullplatform rendering library, or API, used by a number of prominent organizations in film, television, and animation, including Sony Pictures Imageworks. It was developed as a photo-realistic, physically-based ray tracing alternative to traditional scanline based rendering software for CG animation.

Arnold uses cutting-edge algorithms that make the most effective use of your computer’s hardware resources: memory, disk space, multiple processor cores, and SIMD/SSE units.

The Arnold architecture was designed to easily adapt to existing pipelines. It is built on top of a pluggable node system; users can extend and customize the system by writing new shaders, cameras, filters, and output driver nodes, as well as procedural geometry, custom ray types and user-defined geometric data. The primary goal of the Arnold architecture is to provide a complete solution as a primary renderer for animation and visual effects.

Solid Angle SL is the technology company behind the Arnold rendering software, with offices in Madrid and London and customers throughout the world including Framestore, DreamWorks, ILM, Sony Pictures Imageworks, MPC, The Mill, Mikros Image and Rising Sun Pictures. Arnold was designed from the ground up to efficiently raytrace the complex geometric datasets required for feature--length CGI animation and big- budget visual effects, while at the same time simplifying the pipeline, reducing the number of passes, minimizing storage requirements and greatly enhancing interactivity for lighting artists.
